Progress on key targets for the database and website
Updated 29 July 2009

Create a database to record information on mAbs, cytokines etc
A database was created on an Oracle platform and is hosted on the Institute for Animal Health’s servers. The database is scalable to allow more species and types of reagents to be added in phase 2 development. The database is fully auditable. A search facility for the database is accessible from the Immunological Toolbox website (http://www.immunologicaltoolbox.com/tbox/lookup.aspx) and this allows the user to produce a datasheet for each reagent entered. The database is constantly updated with new reagents as they become characterized and literature searches have/are being made to include all reagents for our target species

Create a web site for 'The Immunological Toolbox'
The domain names www.immunologicaltoolbox.com and www.immunologicaltoolbox.co.uk were purchased for the site. The site has been built following the level two guidelines of the WC3 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (http://web4.w3.org/WAI/gettingstarted/Overview.html). The site is hosted by the Institute for Animal Health on secure servers and can be easily updated using industry standard web authoring software

Progress on other targets for the database and website
Updated 29 July 2009

Make the database available through the internet using a web interface
The database is searchable from http://www.immunologicaltoolbox.com/tbox/lookup.aspx . The phase one release allows searching by specificity or synonyms. The search results can be refined to the reagent level and a data sheet for the individual reagent can be displayed. Significant enhancements are planned for phase two including more options for searching (i.e. by reagent name and filtering on species) and a more comprehensive reagent sheet will be designed. Data input is currently available through RDP connections from The Moredun Research Institute and The University of Nottingham Veterinary School and plans for phase two include provision for data entry using web services

Include cross-reactivity data
Data input has begun for results of testing (predominantly) human mAbs on our target species from HLDA workshops. This will be continued in the second phase and negative reactions will also be included.

Act as a point of contact for new data submissions
The website includes email contact details so that non-consortium members can make contact and submit information or ask questions. It is hoped that during the second phase that a specially designed form will allow other researchers to submit information to the Immunological Toolbox – this will be reviewed and verified prior to inclusion into the database
